what’s your type?
By audhill | August 9, 2007
After a post about how to pimp the text, it seems only fair to add another about classic, beautifully designed fonts. Smashing continues to provide great tool with 80 beautiful typefaces for professional designers (and students who are particularly well educated about their letters) You know what? Teach the kids grammar, because they might as well know something about how their language is formed. Teach them about typography (you know serif, san serif, baseline, etc) because they might as well know something about how their letters are formed. And, now I’m going to go that farther step. Teach letter formation (previously known as penmanship) in elementary, because they might as well learn how to form their letters. Can you say grapho-motor development? But, if the modern world can handle just so much back to basics, at least get in tune with the beauty of type and the powerful impression it can make. Try Counterspace for an informative visual tour of your letters. And UDel’s Typography for fun, interactive quiz about kerning. Kids will love it.
