son of something there is that loves a list

By audhill | August 6, 2007

I’m trying to follow my own preference for brevity, but this is really a continuation of that

Mr Belshaw asks what’s to like about edubloggers:

1) giving good headline. A good title always makes me want to read the entry. I read from my rss (unless I’m reading from a link in someone else’s blog). If the headline is dull, I generally don’t click on it, unless the excerpt pulls me in. So good first impressions are important.

2) sharing the planet. Whatever goes around comes around. Those who have an open source mentality, who share information and tools, encouraging others to tangibly benefit will always get my vote.

3) courting interaction. Invitations to complete surveys and memes.  Participation of all kinds warms my heart and wins my attention.

4) getting to the point This is that other piece of advice I need to follow. I know it’s true. Unless the author is dead brilliant, long entries (especially when they do not include bulleting, paragraphing or other visual means for breaking up space) don’t often hold my interest. I skim and move on.

5) being three dimensional. Having interests other than technological tools is attractive. It’s not that I want to hear all about your new dog (although you may be about to hear all about mine), but I do want to know what informs your practice besides the tools you like. I like to see intersections that help to create the professional and person you are. And, of course, I have a place in my heart for any blogger whose interests intersect my own (especially those who appreciate media literacy, visual literacy, devil’s advocacy, and humor)

6) having a sense of humor.

7) forgiving me my trespasses as I forgive you yours.
